Ayurvedic Body Treatments

Ayurvedic body treatments are an integral part of most treatment plans.  In addition to the physical benefits of helping with pain management, reducing congestion and alleviating muscular tension, Ayurvedic body treatments also induce a deeply relaxed state of mind and are great for tackling stress.

Shirodhara (Forehead Oil Flow Treatment)

A continuous stream of warm, herb-infused oil is poured over the forehead in a rhythmical movement.  It is very effective in treating stress, anxiety and burn-out.

Shirodhara is thought to work by relaxing the hypothalamus in the brain.  Vibrations are created on the forehead by the pressure of the oil. After saturating the forehead and scalp, the oil penetrates the nervous system enabling the body, mind and nervous system to experience a state of deep rest similar to that of meditation.

Pristhabhyanga (Ayurvedic Back Massage)

Warm, herb-infused oil is massaged into the back to relieve backache, muscular aches and pains.

The benefits of this treatment are derived not only from the massage itself but also from the administration of the herbal oils which are absorbed through the skin.

Duration: 45 minutes
Price: £50

Nabhi Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Abdominal Massage)

A massage technique which focuses on the abdomen with the aim of toning the digestive organs and assisting weight-loss around the abdomen.

This treatment is particularly recommended for those suffering from constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and excess weight gain.

Duration: 45 minutes
Price: £50

Nasya Therapy (Nasal Clearing)

The face is steamed before a facial massage focusing on the nose and sinus region.  Medicated oils are applied into the nasal passage followed by further massage of the sinus area.  The olfactory nerves are the only nerves in the body to be exposed to the air and therefore the application and massage of oils in this area can have a dramatic effect on clearing the sinuses.

This treatment is very effective for relieving nasal congestion, sinusitis and associated headaches.

Duration: 45 minutes
Price: £50
